MAHOPAC, NY – It was a who’s who Monday morning at the Putnam County Golf Course as the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce held its candidate forum.  State Senator Terrence Murphy, who is vying for reelection spoke about his work reducing the regulatory burden that continues to crush his fellow small business owners.  Incumbents and candidates seeking state office were on hand including State Senator Sue Serino, State Assemblyman Kevin Byrne, Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell as well as their respective challengers.  Noticeably missing though was Peter Harckham.

“I am proud of my record and look forward to sharing it with voters of the 40th Senate District,” Senator Murphy said.  “We are enjoying the lowest rate of unemployment in Westchester and the Hudson Valley since 2007.  We need to continue to find ways to promote economic growth and freedom and the results will continue to come in.”

Senator Murphy will participate in the following debates between now and election day:

  • Monday October 15th – Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forum
  • Thursday October 18th – Building and Realty Institute of Westchester Candidate Forum
  • Monday October 22nd – Putnam County League of Women Voters Candidate Forum

It is unclear if Senator Murphy’s opponent plans on attending the additional debates.  He had already declined a fourth candidate forum hosted by the New Castle League of Women Voters on November 2nd.

“My opponent keeps saying he wants to debate but can’t seem to find them,” Murphy added.  “I’m always ready to go.  The voters deserve it.”
